C'est finalement Stefania Liberakakis avec « Supergirl » qui représente la Grèce au concours Eurovision de la chanson dans son édition 2020. Un concours qui devait avoir initialement lieu du 16 au 18 mai à Rotterdam mais qui est finalement annulé à cause de la la pandémie de coronavirus Covid-19, une première depuis la création du concours en 1956. La délégation grecque faisait partie du premier groupe d’États, avec la Finlande, Israël, l'Italie, la Suède et la Suisse, à refuser de se mettre en danger en pleine pendemie et à déclarer ne pas vouloir se rendre à Rotterdam. La chansons grecque « Supergirl » est écrite par Dimitris Kontopoulos, un compositeur et producteur de 48 ans qui a collaboré avec la plupart des grands noms de la musique moderne grecque ; il est un habitué des premières places des charts grecs et il a aussi plusieurs participations à l'Eurovision à son actif ous la bannière de différents pays de l'Est. A 18 ans, Stefania, elle, a déjà une certaine expérience de l'Eurovision pour avoir défendu les couleurs des Pays-Bas au concours Junior Eurovision en 2016 où elle avait terminé à la 8e place. Née à Utrecht le 17 décembre 2002 de parents grecs originaires de la région d'Evros, elle avait impressionné dès l'âge des 9 ans au The Voice Kids des Pays-Bas.
